Zettelwirtschaft is a receipt and expense app for freelancers and businesses in Austria and Germany. Scan receipts, keep a mileage logbook, settle trips — and hand your accountant a package they can actually import.

By default, nothing leave your device. No account, no sign-up, no cloud sync.

RECEIPTS • Scan with automatic edge detection — crop first, then choose the look • Multi-page receipts and documents • Amounts, dates, merchants and VAT rates are read for you • No camera needed: type it, pick from Photos, or share from another app • Entertainment expenses with occasion and attendees

MILEAGE LOGBOOK • Start and finish a journey; type the odometer or photograph it • Origin and destination, purpose, business partner • Checks for gaps, overlaps and missing statutory fields • Business share, recalculated as you go • Export as a spreadsheet, as a report, or as a ZIP with every odometer photo

TRIPS • Per diems under Austrian and German law, day by day • Twelfths (AT) and the three-step rule (DE), shown as they are calculated • Reduced for meals that were provided • Overnight allowance, mileage, attached receipts • Trip report as a PDF

YOUR DATA The database is encrypted on the device. Backups are encrypted with your passphrase — we could not open one either. There is no account, because there is no server for one to live on.

Two features can open a connection, and only if you explicitly allow it: renewing a licence issued by your accountant, and place search in the logbook. Both are off out of the box, both explain exactly what would be sent before anything is, and both keep working if you say no.

TRY IT Five scans to try it out, once. Everything else — logbook, trips, export — is unlimited. Pro is available as a subscription or a one-time purchase. If you work with a tax firm, they can also unlock Pro for you directly.

A NOTE ON THE NUMBERS Zettelwirtschaft applies the rates in force on each document's own date and freezes them.
