Features & Capabilities

Earthquakes from the USGS and EMSC, on a map you can actually read. Set the magnitude and distance that matter to you, and know what to do when it happens.

Quake Alert shows earthquakes reported by the USGS and the EMSC, the two agencies that publish most of the world's seismic data, in one list, on one map, in your language.

WHAT YOU GET

• A feed that answers the question you actually have: how big, how far from you, how deep, how long ago. • A map where colour and size follow magnitude, from yellow through orange to deep red, so the events that matter find your eye first. • A page for every event: depth, distance and direction from you, local time, coordinates, the reporting agency, and an estimate of how much shaking you would have felt where you are. • Search any place or country. The app asks both agencies about that area over the last 30 days, not just the events already loaded on your screen. • Alerts you control. Choose the minimum magnitude and the radius around you. Tsunami evaluations can always come through, whatever the other limits say. • A safety guide for before, during and after: drop, cover, hold on; emergency numbers for your country; a go-bag checklist you can tick off; a family meeting point you can write down. • "I'm safe" — a prepared message you can edit and send to family in seconds, with a link to your location if you want one.

NINE LANGUAGES

English, Türkçe, 日本語, Bahasa Indonesia, Español, Ελληνικά, Italiano, فارسی, Filipino. The app follows your device language, or you can pick one.

TWO SOURCES, MERGED

The USGS covers the world. The EMSC picks up smaller events around the Mediterranean, Türkiye and the Middle East, often sooner. Quake Alert queries both and merges the duplicates, so you get one clean list instead of the same earthquake twice. If one agency is unreachable, the list still loads and says so.

YOUR LOCATION STAYS ON YOUR PHONE

It is used to work out distances and to decide which alerts are worth showing you. Nothing is uploaded to us. No account, no tracking, no ads.

IMPORTANT

Quake Alert reports earthquakes that have already happened. It cannot predict earthquakes and it is not an official warning system. When an alert arrives depends on when the agencies publish the event and when your phone chooses to run background checks. Always follow your national authority. No app should be your only source in an emergency.
