Features & Capabilities

Seventy-two books on Scripture, theology and the Christian life — the whole library, offline, and searchable to the last sentence.

Seventy-two books, and all of them are here.

Not samples, not first chapters, not a catalogue with a buy button. The complete text of the entire Ambrose Hughes library, free, and installed on your phone so it opens on a plane or in a basement or with the phone in airplane mode.

FOUR SERIES

Foundations. Eight books on the theological bedrock — the story, the method, the doctrine, the life.

Finding Jesus. Thirty-nine books tracing Christ through every book of the Bible, Genesis to Revelation. The whole story, one thread.

Verse by Verse. Fifteen books of passage-level commentary, walking through the text at a pace slow enough to see what is actually there.

The Christian Life. Ten books that take what the Foundations establish and ask what it looks like on a Tuesday morning.

READ IT HOWEVER YOU LIKE

Open any book and read it start to finish. Or follow one of eight reading paths. Seven are scheduled - a group of the books taken in order, one section a day, five days a week, with two days left open: The Foundation Year, Law and History, Wisdom and Poetry, The Prophets, Gospels and Acts, Letters and Revelation, and The Road Ahead. The eighth, Deep in the Text, is the fifteen commentaries at whatever pace suits you. Between them they cover all seventy-two books, and the app remembers where you are in whichever you choose.

SEARCH EVERY WORD

One search box over eighteen thousand words of vocabulary across all seventy-two books. It shows you the sentence your words appeared in, and the book and section it came from. It works offline, like everything else.

MARK WHAT MATTERS

Tap a sentence to keep it. Hold one to write a note beside it. Bookmarks, highlights and notes all collect in one place, each one tapping straight back to the passage it came from — and they follow you to your other devices.

WORSHIP

Some readings are paired with a song from the Ambrose Hughes Worship catalogue. Tap it and Spotify opens.

QUIET BY DESIGN

No advertising. No analytics. No tracking. No notifications nagging you about a streak. Nothing to buy, now or later. Your notes are yours: they are stored so they can be shown back to you and for no other purpose, and they are never used to train anything.

ABOUT THE NAME

Ambrose Hughes is a tribute to two figures — Ambrose of Milan, the fourth-century bishop whose preaching shaped the early church, and Philip Hughes, the twentieth-century theologian and biblical scholar. The name is not a person. It stands for a work of co-creation between a theologically trained writer and generative AI, prompted to work in the style, tone and theology of Timothy Keller and the Gospel Coalition, read with a charismatic sensibility. Every page has been reviewed by that writer.

Not affiliated with any denomination or organization, and intended for the benefit of the Church universal.
