Features & Capabilities

Build the session before you lift it: pick a lift and a target, and MyBarbell ramps you up to it, sets out your working sets, and shows what goes on each side.

MyBarbell tells you what to put on the bar, and counts you through the work.

Type the weight you want. MyBarbell shows you the plates to slide on, per side, on a diagram you can read at a glance mid-session — using only the plates you actually own.

THE PLATES YOU ACTUALLY HAVE

Most plate calculators assume a full commercial rack. This one asks what's on yours. Set your plate inventory once — which denominations, how many pairs — and every answer after that is one you can really load, whether that's a competition set or three mismatched plates in a garage.

When your plates can't make the number, MyBarbell says so and shows the closest weight they can build. It never silently rounds and leaves you to find out under the bar.

KG AND LB, PROPERLY

Work in either unit. Each keeps its own plate inventory, so switching between a kilo gym and a pound one doesn't scramble what you told the app you own. One tap converts the weight on screen and re-solves the bar in the other unit, so the number and the plates never disagree.

YOUR NUMBERS

Record your personal bests and work off a percentage of them without doing the sums. Ask for 75% of your squat and MyBarbell resolves it against your current best and loads the bar — so a PB set last week moves today's working weight on its own.

BUILD THE WHOLE SESSION, NOT JUST ONE BAR

Pick a lift and say what you're working up to — an exact weight, a percentage of a number, or a percentage of your recorded best. MyBarbell lays out the ramp-up sets, then the working sets, with the plates for each one drawn per side.

The ramp is optional and the shape is yours: straight sets, a back-off set after them, or an open top set where each make offers you the next weight up. Every rung is chosen to be loadable from the plates you own and to keep the plate changes between sets small, so you spend the session lifting rather than stripping the bar.

Run it at your own pace, ticking sets off as you go, or on a clock.

A TIMER SHAPED LIKE YOUR TRAINING

Build the piece you're about to do, then run it. Pick a shape — EMOM, intervals, AMRAP, countdown, stopwatch, or a ladder whose rounds step up or down — set the clock, and type the movements straight in. A four-line pattern repeats to fill forty rounds without typing it forty times.

Ladders are the one most timers can't do: 60 seconds, then 50, then 40, all the way down, ending on a round count, a total time, or wherever the floor you set runs out.

Once it's running, the screen is built to be read from the floor: the round you are on, the time left in it, what's coming next, and a colour flood that tells you work from rest across a gym. Countdown beeps and haptics into every round. When a round calls for a weight, the plate calculator is one tap away with the number already in it.

BUILT FOR THE GYM FLOOR

  • Your bar, not a default: set the bar weight you're actually using
  • A barbell diagram, not a list of numbers to decode
  • The screen stays awake while a timer runs
  • Works with no signal, in a basement, in aeroplane mode
  • VoiceOver throughout, including spoken round and rest changes as a timer runs
  • No account. Open it and use it.

PRIVACY

MyBarbell collects nothing. No sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no network requests of any kind — there is no server for your data to go to. Everything you enter stays in the app's storage on your phone, and deleting the app deletes it.

Free. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no ads.

Always check a loaded bar before you lift it. MyBarbell does the arithmetic, not the coaching. It doesn't know your training history, your injuries or your technique — consult a qualified professional about your own training, and use collars, a spotter or safety pins as appropriate.
