You open the app to a chat list, not a lesson menu. Say something, and they answer the way that person would.

PRACTICE WITH PRIVACY CHOICES Raw audio is never uploaded; speech is transcribed on device. If you turn on recording playback, your recordings are written only to that device — never uploaded, never synced — and are cleared automatically. Choose Standard mode for the best AI conversation, Enhanced Privacy to send less context, or Local mode to keep content on device where supported. Learning records stay on your device; eligible plans can enable private iCloud sync.

Every partner is a fictional character generated by AI, not a real person, and will tell you so if you ask.
