Jelly Radar tells you which Mallorca beaches are likely to have jellyfish today — and, more usefully, why.

Every one of the island's 231 named beaches gets a plain reading: Low, Watch, Elevated, or an honest "no reading" when the data isn't there.

SEE THE WHOLE ISLAND Open the map and the picture is immediate. Beaches are grouped by coast, so you can tell at a glance whether the calm water today is in the north-east or the south. Search all 231 by name.

KNOW WHY, NOT JUST WHAT Every reading states its reasoning in ordinary words: the wind is driving onto this beach at 14 km/h from the east; the swell is pushing shoreward; it's early August, peak season on this coast; jellyfish were observed six kilometres upwind two days ago. If a reason isn't contributing, it isn't shown.

PLAN THE NEXT THREE DAYS See how a beach's reading is expected to change before you commit to the drive. Daily, not hourly — the underlying forecast doesn't support hourly, and pretending otherwise would be inventing detail.

FIND A CALMER BEACH NEARBY Nearby sorts by distance from you and shows the reason behind each reading, so swapping to a better option takes one look rather than a search.

REPORT WHAT YOU SEE Saw the flag change, or a jellyfish in the water? Report it in two taps and everyone looking at that beach sees it. Reports from people actually standing on the beach carry more weight than the forecast does.

NO ACCOUNT, NO SIGN-UP, NO TRACKING There's nothing to create and nothing to log into. Your location is used on your phone to sort beaches and recognise the one you're standing on. A report you send carries no name, no account and no identifier — nothing that ties it to you, or to anything else you've sent.

WHERE THE DATA COMES FROM Wind and wave forecasts from Open-Meteo. Photo-verified jellyfish observations from iNaturalist. Reports from other people using the app. Beach locations and orientations from OpenStreetMap. Maps by Apple. Every source is credited in Settings, and every reading is dated so you know how fresh it is.

A NOTE ON WHAT THIS IS Jelly Radar is a forecast, not an observation. It tells you when conditions favour jellyfish arriving at a beach; it cannot tell you they are there. Lifeguards and official beach flags are the authority on the day — always follow them.
