Features & Capabilities

Is the pavement too hot for your dog's paws — right now?

Air temperature lies. On a pleasant 77°F sunny day, asphalt reaches about 125°F — hot enough to damage paw pads in about a minute. PawWeather answers the question that matters, in one look: GO, CAUTION, or DANGER.

NO ADS. NO SUBSCRIPTION. NO ACCOUNT. A safety app shouldn't interrupt you with ads while your dog waits at the door. PawWeather is free to use, with one optional $3.99 unlock. That's the entire business model, and it will not change.

BUILT ON THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE Forecasts come straight from api.weather.gov — the U.S. government's own service. The pavement model is calibrated against published surface measurements and checked against state DOT roadside pavement sensors, so the numbers aren't a guess dressed up as a reading.

JUDGED FOR YOUR DOG Flat-faced breeds (Pugs, Frenchies, Bulldogs), puppies, seniors, and dark-coated dogs in direct sun all get stricter thresholds, following published veterinary guidance. Two risks are judged separately — burned paws and heatstroke — because they call for different decisions.

TODAY, HOUR BY HOUR A timeline of the next 18 hours shows the green walk windows at a glance, so you know whether to go now, wait for 7 PM, or skip today.

WALK HOURS THAT FIT YOUR STREET Beating the heat often means dawn or after dark. Set the earliest and latest hours you'd actually walk, and PawWeather will never suggest a time outside them.

PAWWEATHER PRO — ONE PURCHASE, YOURS FOREVER ($3.99) • 7-Day Walk Planner: the best walk windows for the week ahead • Smart Alerts: a morning summary and a pre-walk check at your usual time • The Whole Pack: profiles for up to 6 dogs

LEARN IT ONCE The 7-second hand test, paw-burn first aid, and heatstroke warning signs are built in and free — because the hand test beats any estimate, including ours.

Your location is used only to fetch the forecast. Your dog's profile never leaves your phone. There are no third-party SDKs in this app at all.

Pavement temperatures are estimates, not measurements at your exact spot. PawWeather is not veterinary advice.

Currently covers the United States. (Canada is on the roadmap.)
