YachtNav

YachtNav is the navigation cockpit for sailing and motor yachts: course chart with steering guide, route navigation, passage plan, GRIB wind, AIS alarm and a ship's logbook that largely keeps itself. Built for the iPad in landscape at the helm – also runs on iPhone, and on the Mac (Apple silicon) for planning. Developed by Navismare from more than 30 years of yacht delivery experience.

THE COCKPIT • SOG large and central, next to it the course guide: the degree figure is the steering correction – red to port, green to starboard • Bearing, distance, time to go and ETA to the next waypoint • FUEL/REST: hourly consumption at current speed and calculated tank contents • GPS accuracy always visible, night mode with adjustable dimming

ROUTES & NAVIGATION • Tap routes directly into the chart or import them as GPX (OpenCPN, iSailor and more) • Activation joins at the nearest leg – never back to waypoint one • Automatic waypoint switching once a waypoint is passed abeam • Go-to function, harbour database and free marks

PASSAGE PLAN • Arrival time for every waypoint – with day, twilight and night marking from the actual position of the sun • High and low water at well-known tidal gates for the calculated arrival, fuel required set against the tank • Live mode: keeps calculating along the route with the speed actually made good • Export as an A4 PDF for the chart table and the crew

CHARTS & WEATHER • OpenStreetMap base map with OpenSeaMap seamarks • Satellite view with switchable seamarks • Offline chart storage: one button stores the charts along the route on the device • GFS wind forecast for the route area, wind overlay with time slider on the chart • Tide planner: 48-hour curve, passage windows for gates like Alderney, Gibraltar or the Elbe – seven days offline on demand • Import of your own GRIB files

AIS & NMEA OVER WIFI • Connects to the on-board gateway (WiFi multiplexer) – no internet needed • AIS targets on the chart, collision alarm with adjustable CPA/TCPA limits • Target list ranked by danger, distress beacon alarm (SART/MOB/EPIRB), harbour mode

SHIP'S LOGBOOK • Track starts automatically with route activation • One-tap manoeuvres – every entry automatically stamped with position, speed, course and forecast wind • Watch change with names, hourly position entry on the hour • Crash-proof: the running recording is saved continuously and resumes seamlessly after a restart • PDF logbook and GPX export of saved tracks

CREW & SYNC • Crew & watch schedule: fixed watch times for the whole crew – share via WhatsApp or email • iCloud sync: routes, tracks, marks, crew and watch schedule on all devices – no account needed

FUEL CALCULATOR • Two consumption points are enough: displacement and planing – the app converts automatically by GPS speed • Fuel needed to the waypoint, tank warning below 15 % with alarm sound • Refuelled function with self-calibration against real consumption

SAFETY • Man-overboard hold button: freeze the position, bearing, distance, time in the water, quick-stop procedure • Anchor watch with adjustable swing radius • Emergency card with radio call template (VHF channel 16) and current position in radio notation • Log, display and steer to received distress positions
