A language learning game: match words and real sentences in any two of 20 languages, alone or with friends.

Lingo Pairs is a matching card game for learning another language, one pair at a time.

Pick the language you speak and the one you are learning, any two of 20 languages: English, Spanish (Spain or Latin America), Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Russian, Persian, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Bosnian, Urdu, Bengali, Swahili, Indonesian, and Vietnamese. Turn two cards, match a word or a sentence to its translation, and hear it said out loud.

HOW TO PLAY Play alone to practise, or send a friend a WhatsApp link and play with 2 to 10 people at one table. Everyone takes turns turning two cards. Match a pair and you keep it and go again. Miss, and the two cards stay face up for everyone to study until the next player turns a card. Every table has a chat.

THE DIFFICULTY DIAL Four steps, shown as dice on the back of every card. Easy deals single words. Normal deals words and short phrases. Hard and Expert deal whole conversational sentences: could I have that without onions, let's meet at half past six, sorry I didn't call sooner. Almost 1,000 sentences in English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Korean.

WHAT'S INSIDE 10 topics: greetings, numbers, travel, food, shopping, time, family, health and emergencies, small talk, and work. 400 core words in all 20 languages plus 997 sentences, every card with its own pronunciation clip, about 14,000 clips in all. Cards in non-Latin scripts show a romanised line so you can say what you see.

A NOTE ON TRANSLATIONS The translations were written for language learners and cover everyday words and sentences. They have not yet been checked by native speakers of every language, so use them as a study aid rather than a certified reference.
