Features & Capabilities

Three real sensors, honest numbers: Bluetooth signal strength in dBm, magnetic field in microtesla, and every device answering on your Wi-Fi.

Sweep turns the sensors your iPhone actually has into three real detectors — and tells you plainly what they can and cannot find.

READ THIS FIRST

No iPhone app is a radio scanner. iOS gives no way to scan for Wi-Fi networks, tune arbitrary frequencies, or see a device that is switched off or not transmitting. Apps that claim to do those things are guessing. Sweep does not.

What your phone genuinely has is a Bluetooth radio, a magnetometer, and a network stack. Sweep uses all three properly and shows you the real numbers.

BLUETOOTH SIGNAL SCAN

A live scan of the 2.4 GHz band. Every transmitter advertising nearby is listed with its true signal strength in dBm, strongest first, updating continuously. Walk toward a device and watch its reading climb — that is how you narrow down where something is. Vendor and device type are identified where the advertisement gives them away.

MAGNETIC FIELD METER

The magnetometer reads the ambient field in microtesla. Calibrate to the room you are standing in, then sweep slowly along walls, sockets, vents and furniture. Motors, speaker magnets, transformers and anything with an iron core push the reading well above local background. Peak-hold catches a spike you moved past too quickly.

NETWORK DEVICE SCAN

Lists the cameras, printers, speakers, streaming boxes and smart-home accessories advertising themselves on the Wi-Fi you are joined to. A device serving RTSP is streaming video — worth knowing about in a room you did not set up yourself.

WHAT THE LIMITS ARE

• Bluetooth scanning sees BLE advertisements only, not Wi-Fi and not classic Bluetooth traffic. • A magnetic spike means metal or a magnetic field — steel studs, pipes and screws all register. It is a clue, not proof. • The network scan only sees devices on your own network that advertise a service. • Signal strength is not distance. Walls and bodies move it, so Sweep reports coarse proximity instead of a made-up figure in metres.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

Everything is measured on your device. No account, no cloud, no uploads, no tracking, and nothing is ever connected to — Sweep only listens.

FREE & PRO

The Bluetooth scan and the magnetic field meter are free and fully working. Sweep Pro adds the full device list instead of the strongest few, the Wi-Fi network scan, and an adjustable sensitivity threshold for the magnetic alert.

Sweep Pro is a subscription: • Weekly with a 3-day free trial, then $3.99/week • Yearly $17.99

Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings.
