Composite Sky turns your Apple TV into a local weather channel that never signs off.

It runs a continuous broadcast of local weather segments. Each holds for its time, then hands off to the next. A full cycle takes about three minutes, then it starts over. There is nothing you have to do — put it on and leave it on.

SEVERE WEATHER

Alerts run along the lower display line carrying the actual hazard text, not just a headline — from the National Weather Service in the US, and Environment and Climate Change Canada in Canada. Tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings take the full screen with an alert tone, along with flash flood warnings in the US and any red-level warning in Canada — once per alert, never on a loop. Turn voice announcements on and the alert is read aloud as well. Press down on the remote to set the crawl aside for ten minutes; press up to bring it back.

Composite Sky is not a life-safety application. Always follow the guidance of local officials and your national weather service.

YOUR MUSIC, YOUR ANNOUNCER

Play a playlist from your own Apple Music library, or enter an audio stream URL you supply yourself.

Voice announcements start switched off, so the broadcast runs silent under your music. Turn them on in Settings and every segment gets a spoken intro, with the music ducking under the announcer and coming back up afterward.

WHERE THE DATA COMES FROM

Forecasts and current conditions from Apple Weather. In the United States: alerts from the National Weather Service, radar and tide predictions from NOAA, and temperature records from the NOAA Regional Climate Centers. In Canada: alerts, radar and temperature records from Environment and Climate Change Canada, and tide predictions from the Canadian Hydrographic Service — for reference only, never for navigation. The land under the radar is drawn from Apple Maps, or in the US from a bundled Census Bureau basemap if you prefer plain outlines.

If you own a WeatherFlow Tempest weather station, add your token and your own readings go on the air — either overlaid onto the forecast and updating about once a minute, or as the entire forecast base. Credit on screen follows the data, so you always know whose numbers you are looking at.

WHEN THE NETWORK DROPS

The loop keeps running on cached data, flagged on screen so you know it is not current. If there is nothing to show, you get a stand-by card instead of a spinner.

PRIVACY

No account, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party code of any kind. Your location goes to the weather services that need it in order to answer, and nowhere else.

LANGUAGE AND COVERAGE

Available in English and in Canadian French, following your Apple TV's language setting. Alerts, radar, tides and temperature records are United States and Canadian services; elsewhere the loop keeps running on conditions, forecast and almanac.

Requires tvOS 26 or later. Apple Music playback requires an Apple Music subscription; the weather does not.
