Balloftra

Balloftra is a game about steering without a steering wheel.

Your balloon cannot move sideways on its own. The sky does that part. Every altitude band carries its own wind, some rushing east, some sliding west, each at its own pace. Choosing a height is the only way you choose a heading.

Press the burner to rise. Open the relief valve to sink. When you need altitude right now, pour ballast sand out of the tray and feel the basket leap, knowing every grain is gone for good. Propane is limited and thunder cells are not forgiving. Ridge lines wait below for a careless landing approach. Thermal columns lift you for free, floating depots top up your tank, and above the frost line ice crusts the envelope until it hangs heavy.

Five charters wait in the hangar, from a calm pinpoint drift to a long haul across the whole chart and a daily sky pattern drawn fresh from the date.

Between flights, open the Wind Almanac to read the bands before you commit, page through the Voyage Logbook and replay the exact line you traced across the sky, dress your envelope in the Paintwork Atelier, and follow the Ascent Ladder from tether hand to sky cartographer.
