Widget Reader is a quiet, local-first ebook reader for the books you already own. Import a file, settle into a distraction-free page, or listen with offline Read Aloud. No account, no online bookstore, and no ads.

READ FROM YOUR HOME SCREEN

Put your current book in a small, medium, or large Home Screen widget. Move to the previous or next passage right from the widget, then open the app whenever you want the full page. Use Synced progress to keep one reading position, or Separate progress for quick reading that never moves your place in the app.

BRING YOUR OWN BOOKS

Import DRM-free EPUB, TXT, text-based PDF, MOBI/AZW, Markdown, HTML, and FB2 files from your device. Add multiple books at once, keep them in a clean library, and choose a two-column, three-column, or list layout. Rename a book locally and return to the exact place where you stopped.

LISTEN, EVEN OFFLINE

Turn your ebooks into a personal listening library with system voices installed on your device. Read Aloud highlights the current sentence and follows along automatically. Adjust playback from 0.5x to 2.0x, choose a voice, set a sleep timer, and continue listening in the background with Lock Screen and headphone controls.

Notes: Supported ebooks must be DRM-free. PDFs must contain extractable text; scanned PDFs and OCR are not supported. Keep your original files, because local content may not be recoverable after the app is deleted or its data is cleared.
