Features & Capabilities

Every choice opens a named thread. Nothing happens without telling you which thread caused it.

Fateline is a life simulator where every outcome makes sense.

Most life simulators are a slot machine. Things happen to you, you never find out why, and a run you cared about ends on a dice roll nobody explained. Fateline is built on the opposite idea.

THREADS

Every meaningful choice opens a named causal thread, and that thread stays on screen. Skip school at 14 and Truancy opens. Keep skipping and it thickens — you can watch it get heavier, year by year, in the rail on the right. At 18 the No Diploma card fires and tells you exactly why: because you skipped school at 14, 15 and 16.

No event in Fateline can fire without naming its cause. Not one. If an event can't explain itself, the game refuses to show it.

And every negative thread has at least one documented way out. Tap it and the game tells you how to close it. You are never stuck in a spiral you can't read.

A WHOLE LIFE, 10 TO 25 MINUTES

Roll a character. Age up one year at a time, making two to four real decisions each year. Education, careers, money, debt, relationships, children, health, crime, fame. Eight career tracks from general work and the trades to software, medicine, law, politics, performance and organised crime — each with real rungs, real promotion conditions, and real ways to fall off.

Then you die, and the Legacy Card renders your entire life as one image: your final stats, your cause of death attributed to a thread, and the full thread map showing every strand you opened and which ones you closed.

WHAT FATELINE DOESN'T DO

No ads. There is no ad SDK in the app at all.

No gating what you can already do. Scenario packs add new situations to live through — they never add or remove a career. All eight career tracks and all ten starting archetypes are core content: free, unlimited, and never sold. So are ageing up, earning money, relationships, crime and closing threads.

No randomised purchases. No loot boxes, no mystery crates, no spins. Everything you buy is exactly what's described before you pay.

No losing your saves. Saves are versioned and migrated on update, never replaced. The game keeps automatic backups of your last three completed lives, recovers from a backup if a file is ever damaged, and lets you export your own copy whenever you want.

No account, no login, and no internet connection required to play.

Fateline is made by one developer who got tired of life simulators that make no sense.

FATELINE PASS (OPTIONAL SUBSCRIPTION)

Fateline Pass is an auto-renewing subscription at $4.99 per week (US price) that unlocks every scenario pack while it is active. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, and the subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it any time in your Apple Account settings. No subscription is required to play — everything else is free or a one-time purchase.
