Hoshii: Auction Finder

Search by photo or by words. Hoshii looks across eBay and Japan's biggest auction and resale sites, then reminds you before the auctions you saved come to an end.

Hoshii is the app you open at that moment. It searches across the major auction and resale sites of the United States and Japan to track down the one thing you've been looking for.

■ Search with a photo You don't need to know the product name. Take a picture, or pick a screenshot you saved, and Hoshii finds visually similar listings. Perfect for "I don't know what it's called, but I want this."

■ Search with words Search by product name or by wording buried in a listing's description. Model numbers and series names work exactly as you'd expect.

■ Japanese marketplaces, one tap away Your keyword carries over: open the search results on Yahoo! Auctions, Mercari, Rakuten Rakuma, and Yahoo! Flea Market without retyping it again and again. These are the sites where Japanese cameras, watches, trading cards, and vintage denim actually surface.

■ Bookmark what you're weighing up Save the listings you're still thinking about. Bookmarks sync through iCloud, so your list follows you to a new iPhone or your iPad.

■ Know before it ends Get a reminder one hour and ten minutes before a saved auction closes, so you never find out too late.

■ Bidding happens on the official site To bid or buy, Hoshii takes you to that marketplace's own page. The app never handles your payment details or passwords.

■ Privacy No account to create. Hoshii collects no name or email address, runs no advertising or analytics tracking, and stores none of the keywords or images you search with.
