SPINDLE LIMIT THAT ACTUALLY MEANS SOMETHING A 1/8" end mill in aluminium asks for around 24,000 RPM. Most machines cannot reach it, and most calculators hand you the number anyway. Machinist Calc clamps the speed to what your machine can hold - and reduces the feed to match, so chip load stays exactly where the material wants it. Cutting the RPM alone would thin the chip until the tool rubs instead of cuts, which is how end mills die.

RADIAL CHIP THINNING, DONE PROPERLY Below 50% radial engagement the real chip comes out thinner than the programmed feed per tooth. The app raises the feed by the correct factor so actual chip thickness - and tool life - stay where they belong. At or above half diameter it correctly applies nothing.

Published speeds and feeds vary widely between tool vendors, and the right numbers depend on rigidity, work holding, coolant, coating and stick-out - none of which the app can see. Machining is dangerous work: no calculator replaces guarding, eye protection and your own judgement at the machine.
