TNM Staging for Clinicians
A TNM staging calculator that shows the reasoning behind each value. Covers major head, neck and thoracic cancers, works offline, and collects nothing. For clinicians.
This app is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Staging results are for reference only and must be verified by a qualified healthcare professional.
■ About CarrotStage
CarrotStage is a TNM cancer staging calculator for healthcare professionals. It implements published staging classification criteria: enter the T, N, and M components and the corresponding stage group is derived.
It is designed to reduce the time spent cross-referencing printed staging tables, and to show the reasoning behind each classification so results can be verified.
■ Coverage
Major cancers of the thoracic and head and neck regions. Currently includes lung, pleural mesothelioma, thymic epithelial tumors, nasopharynx, oropharynx (HPV-associated and p16-negative), salivary gland, and cervical nodes with unknown primary, with further sites added over time.
The current list of supported sites is available from the menu within the app.
■ Features
· Shows the reasoning, not just the answer
Rather than simply returning T2 or T3, the app shows which criterion produced that assignment, step by step. You can verify the result instead of taking it on trust.
· Blocks contradictory input by design
Selecting carcinoma in situ disables the nodal fields; with no positive nodes, the ENE switch is locked. Impossible combinations cannot be constructed in the first place.
· Separates clinical from pathological
cTNM and pTNM are classified differently. Switching tracks changes the input fields to match the applicable criteria.
· Does not hide what it is based on
Each site states the edition applied and what kind of source it is based on. Where published sources differ in interpretation, a warning explains which criteria were applied.
■ Privacy
· No internet connection is required for staging
· Nothing you enter is stored or transmitted
· No accounts, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics
· No device permissions are requested
Given that it is used in clinical settings where patient information is handled, the app was built without any outbound communication path.
■ Intended Users
This app is intended for healthcare professionals, including physicians, pathologists, cancer registrars, and medical trainees. It is not a consumer health app and is not a tool for patient self-assessment.
■ Sources
Staging criteria for each site were implemented from the peer-reviewed literature in which the classification was published, together with official staging reference materials. The edition applied and the kind of source it is based on are shown at the bottom of each screen, so users can judge whether primary-source confirmation is warranted.
Staging classifications are subject to revision. Please consult the official publications of the relevant societies for current criteria.

This app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC), the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), or the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC).
