Mindful & Disciplined Trading
我慢 — to endure what is hard, quietly. A wall in front of your trading apps, and one question before it lets you through: what changed? Fifteen free minutes a day.
Gaman puts a wall in front of your trading apps. Open one and it asks the only question worth asking before you touch a position: what changed — the fundamentals, or your mind?
There are only two answers. Picking the second one is its own reply.
THE WALL
Choose the apps that pull at you: your broker, your exchange, whatever you open at red lights. Gaman stands in front of them. No countdown to sit out, no lecture to scroll past, nothing to argue with. One question, one tap, and the impulse is behind you.
WHAT IT KEEPS
Every stop is counted, and after a few weeks the habit stops being a feeling and becomes a number you can look at.
• How many times you reached today, against how many times you guessed you would
• Which symbol keeps bringing you back
• Whether the urge came from Twitter, a video, a friend, or nobody but you
• What you were thinking, in your own words, if you want to write it down
Nothing here can be cleared. A record you can erase on a bad day is not a record.
WHAT IF
The trades you didn't make, priced. Every urge you walked away from is kept with the price it had that day, and set against today's — so the habit stops being an argument and becomes an average. You can add the ones you never opened an app for, and mark them spot or leveraged: a leveraged position is checked against the whole path since, so one that was closed out on the way is shown as closed out rather than as a profit it never lived to make.
STRICT MODE
No passes at all, once you mean it.
FREE, AND PAID
The free version gives you the whole wall for fifteen minutes a day — the block, the question, the record, all of it. A subscription keeps it standing for as long as you want it there. Nothing is held back to be sold back to you; the difference is only how long the wall stays up.
WHAT LEAVES YOUR PHONE: A SYMBOL
No account. No sign-up. No analytics. Nothing you answer at the wall ever leaves the device, and iOS hides the identity of the apps you block even from the app itself. The one exception is What If, which has to ask what a price was: it sends a symbol and a date, nothing else, with no identifier attached and no log kept. Never open that screen and nothing leaves at all. Delete the app and every trace goes with it.
WHO IT IS FOR
People who already know what they should do and do the other thing anyway. Overtrading is not a thinking problem — nobody churns an account on purpose, it happens one impulse at a time — so Gaman does not try to talk you out of anything. It just stands in the way.
If your problem is finding better ideas, this is the wrong app. If your problem is sitting still, it is the only one you need.
Gaman is not a broker and gives no investment advice. It does exactly one thing: it makes you wait.
我慢 — the Japanese word for enduring what is hard, quietly, without complaint.
Gaman is $2.99 a month or $19.99 a year, with a 3-day free trial. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, and can be managed in your Apple Account settings.
