Plant with Purpose

Plant With Purpose is the field app used by our program staff and in-country partner teams to record community visits in the watersheds we restore — in Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Haiti, Malawi, Mexico, Tanzania and Thailand.

Accounts are issued by Plant With Purpose. This is a working tool for people doing the work, not a general-audience app. If you are a field officer, program manager or partner-organization staff member, sign in with the account your program office gave you.

WORKS WHERE THERE IS NO SIGNAL

Our field teams spend their days hours from the nearest tower. Everything you have been assigned is stored on the phone before you leave, so the app opens and behaves exactly the same in airplane mode as it does on Wi-Fi. Record the whole visit offline — activity, attendance, tree species, seedlings planted, notes and photos — and it uploads itself the moment you come back into coverage. Nothing is lost, nothing is re-typed at the office that evening.

RECORD THE VISIT WHERE IT HAPPENS

One form, laid out the way a visit actually goes: who you met and where, what was covered, how many people came, what was planted and how many, then photos and notes. Groups, churches, schools, communities and tree species are all pre-loaded on the device, so the fields you fill in are the same ones the whole organization reports on.

EVERY PHOTO FILED AUTOMATICALLY

Photos taken during a visit are filed by country, watershed, community, group and day without anyone naming a folder. The gallery lets you walk down that tree to any single day, or back up to see everything a whole watershed has produced this year.

YOUR ASSIGNMENTS FIND YOU

When a visit is scheduled for you, changed or cancelled, a notification arrives. Open it and you are on the record. Program staff can see at a glance which visits are still outstanding.

THE WHOLE DATABASE IN YOUR POCKET

Watersheds, communities, groups, churches, schools, tree species, activities and staff — the reference data behind every visit is on the device, searchable, and available with no connection.

EIGHT LANGUAGES

English, Español, Français, Amharic, Kiswahili, Chichewa, ไทย and Kreyòl Ayisyen. Switch at any time from Settings; the change is immediate and does not need a restart or a connection.

BUILT AROUND HOW THE PROGRAM ACTUALLY RUNS

Each person sees the parts of the system their role covers, and nothing else. Field officers see their own visits and schedules. Program managers see their region. The permissions are the same ones set in the web system, so there is one place to manage them.
