Touching it wakes the lock screen, where wiping can enter passcode digits, activate controls, or risk an unwanted emergency call. On an unlocked device, wiping can open apps, move icons, or trigger actions you never intended. In all of these situations, there is also no clear, evenly lit background to make dust, fingerprints, smudges, and grime stand out.
