PageToll is a screen time app. It makes you read one page of a book before you can open Instagram, TikTok, or any other app you choose.

Here is what happens. You pick the apps you want to limit. When you tap one, it doesn't open. PageToll opens instead and shows you one page of a book. You read the page, then answer one short question about it. After that you can open the app for 5 to 30 minutes, or stay in PageToll and read another page.

When your unlock time runs out, the app locks again until you read the next page.

That is the whole app.

THE BOOKS The library is public domain classics: Dickens, Wells, Doyle and others. These are complete books, not excerpts or quotes. You read one page per unlock and pick up where you left off the next time. When you finish a book, you choose the next one.

ABOUT THE QUESTION After each page there is one question about what you just read. It's there so the page gets read instead of skipped. If you get it wrong, you read the page again. There is no penalty and nothing is taken away.

COMMON QUESTIONS Can I still use my apps? Yes. Read a page and they open. PageToll does not stop you from using your phone. How long does a page take? About a minute. Which apps can I lock? Any app on your iPhone. What if I don't want to open the app after reading? Tap "keep reading" and PageToll shows you the next page.

PRIVACY PageToll uses Apple's Screen Time framework, which runs on your device. Which apps you lock, and when you open them, never leaves your phone. Your reading progress is saved so you don't lose your place. No ads, no tracking, no third-party analytics. PageToll cannot see anything you do inside your apps.

SUBSCRIPTION $4.99/month after a 7-day free trial. This covers everything: locking any apps you choose, reading any book in the library, and your reading stats.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase after the trial ends. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store settings.
