Your device as a sailing instrument dashboard, race timer, and after-race fleet replay.

SailStats turns your phone into a sailing instrument display, a start-line timer, and a race replay you can actually learn from.

SailStats works with nothing more than your iPhone’s GPS. For richer performance data, connect to a compatible NMEA 0183 Wi-Fi source, including supported B&G, Simrad and Lowrance chartplotters or an NMEA Wi-Fi gateway connected to your boat’s instrument network. SailStats will then display and record wind, heading, boat speed, depth and other onboard data alongside your GPS track.

THE START

A start-line timer

• Ping both ends of the line from the boat, place them on a map, or type coordinates • Distance to the line, time to the line, and time to burn — how early or late you are at your current speed • Line bias against the wind, or against the first mark if set, so you know which end pays • Three start screens: a planning board, a numbers view, and a line visualisation. Swipe to whichever one you prefer.

THE SAIL

• Dashboards you build yourself from 20+ data channels — speed, wind, depth, VMG, heading, and more when NMEA data is connected. • A wind rose showing true and apparent wind together • A shift indicator that tracks whether you're lifted or headed on this tack • Background recording that keeps going with the screen off • An Apple Watch app with the numbers that matter on your wrist

AFTER

• Every sail saved with its full track and instrument history • Course performance: time, average and max speed, best 10-second burst, best sustained mile or kilometre • Point-of-sail breakdown — how you actually went upwind, reaching and downwind, which needs real wind data and is where an instrument feed earns its keep • Scrub through the whole sail on a map with your data replayed beside it

THE FLEET

Share a race with a join code. Everyone uploads their track afterwards and the whole fleet replays together on one map — who went where, who gained on which leg, and how the leaders' first beat differed from yours.

Time-trial mode compares runs recorded on different days/times against the same course, so you can race yourself.

UNITS Knots, km/h or mph. Nautical miles, kilometres or miles. Everything is stored in canonical units and converted only for display, so switching never changes your history.

PRIVACY

No account required. Recording, review and analysis all work entirely on your device. Nothing is transmitted unless you choose to share a race with a fleet.
