NO GUESSING REQUIRED Not even on Expert. Most apps only check that a puzzle has exactly one solution. Whether a person can find it without trial and error is a different question. Sudoku Still also runs every board through a solver that knows only human techniques, and discards what it cannot finish.

LEVELS BY TECHNIQUE A puzzle's level depends on the hardest technique it requires, not on how many digits are missing. Hard is therefore equally hard every day.

NOTES THAT KEEP COUNT Candidate notes update themselves when you enter a digit, and a hint reads your current notes and carries on from there. Not a rebuild of paper and pencil, but what a screen can actually do.

SMALL AND OFFLINE Smaller than a photo. Runs without a connection and without video, which goes easy on the battery. Collects no data at all.
