H.U.B.O. – Water Polo Game

H.U.B.O. is fast, chunky, pixel-art water polo you play with one thumb on a virtual joystick and three action buttons. Pick from 16 world-stage nations, choose 3v3 or 6v6, and jump into a Quick Match, one of five knockout tournaments, or a full national-team Season.

It plays like the real sport. Every period opens with a swim-off — both teams line up on their own goal line and sprint for the ball. Full water polo rules are enforced with referee-whistle calls: ordinary fouls and free throws, exclusions with 20-second power plays, three-foul ejections, the 2m rule, ball-under, corner and goal throws, and the 15-second shot clock. Teams actually set up and run plays — a center on the hole, wings and drivers on the perimeter, defenders pressing man-to-man with an M-drop, and an automatic 4-2 on the man-up. Shoot from distance and the keeper eats it; work the ball closer and the cage opens up.

SEASON MODE — build a coaching career. Start with a rising nation and run a 16-team national-team league: you play your games while the rest of the world is simulated, chasing the top-8 world championship and a spot on the podium. Between seasons the field turns over — veterans retire, prospects rise — so the powerhouses do not stay on top forever. Keep building your own program or take a bigger job as coaching offers scale with your record. Every finish is logged in your Trophy Room, and the seasons never stop.

FIVE TOURNAMENTS, FIVE TROPHIES — chase the Tidewater Cup, Poseidon Shield, Meridian Masters, Coral Crown, or Abyssal Globe. Each is a 16-team single-elimination knockout with its own designed trophy to win and display in your Trophy Room.

A 5-meter penalty triggers a dedicated behind-the-shooter minigame: aim a crosshair, then a two-bar timing mechanic — accuracy, then power — decides how close the ball lands to your spot while the goalie reads the shot and dives. The same scene decides tied knockout matches in a shootout.

Build a dynasty in Franchise HQ. Earn coins from every match, then spend them upgrading your players' stats, your Head Coach (which unlocks a live lineup-projection screen), your Pool, and your Training Facility. Pool and Facility raise Fan Power, which multiplies every future payout.
