Yushirushi: Onsen Journal

Revisit your onsen journey with latest-visit comparisons, a Hot Spring Passport with milestone stamps, clearer Commons search scopes, and improved backup export.

Yushirushi is a private journal for remembering hot spring visits, personal impressions, and information displayed by each venue. Your journal and personal visit photos are stored on your device.

Add hot spring venues by country and region, then organize them as Favorites or Want to Go. After a visit, save the date, bath type, a five-point personal rating, how the temperature felt, tags, and a short note. Venue, visit, and water-profile entries can all be edited later.

REMEMBER THE VISIT IN PHOTOS • Keep up to six photos for each visit, using the camera or system photo picker • Store privacy-safe copies in the app with location metadata removed • Choose a favorite photo as the visit cover • When a venue has no saved reference photo, show the newest available personal visit photo as its cover • Create and share a PNG onsen postcard using only your own selected visit photo

Please take photos only where the venue permits photography and where no other person appears in the image.

REFERENCE PHOTOS FROM WIKIMEDIA COMMONS Only after you choose Find Reference Photo, Yushirushi sends the venue name and region to Wikimedia Commons to look for candidates. Results are separated into Venue-name candidates, Nearby area references, and Prefecture / region references.

A venue-name candidate is not a guaranteed match. A nearby-area photo may not show the venue itself, and a prefecture or regional reference is not presented as a venue photo. Confirm the location, creator attribution, license, and source page before saving. Results depend on what Commons makes available and on network conditions, so a search may return no suitable candidate. Yushirushi does not import images from Google Images or venue websites.

COMPARE RETURN VISITS After two or more visits to the same venue, compare the latest two entries. Review their personal photos, ratings, temperature feel, and tag changes side by side.

HOT SPRING PASSPORT See venues visited, prefectures or areas, return visits, and photo memories together. Journal milestones unlock stamps such as First Hot Spring, Five Hot Springs, Welcome Back, and Ten Visit Stamps. Passport totals are calculated only from records on your device.

WATER INFORMATION WITH ITS SOURCE Copy information from a venue notice or official website, including spring type, source temperature, pH, dissolved content, and disclosed water treatment. Add a source label and reference URL. If the analysis date is not available, save it as Unknown. pH entries are checked against the 0–14 range.

KEEP YOUR DATA IN YOUR HANDS • Export venues, visits, water profiles, personal photos, and saved reference media together in a .yushirushi backup • See preparation progress while media is gathered, followed by the iOS system panel for choosing where to save • Preview a backup, then merge it with or replace the current journal • Continue to import legacy JSON backups • Export visit history as CSV

The app starts in Japanese. You can switch to English or Simplified Chinese in Settings.

Yushirushi has no account, advertising, analytics, or in-app purchases. It does not upload your journal or personal visit photos. Network access occurs only when you open the Wikimedia Commons reference-photo search. The app does not collect location data.

Yushirushi does not test water, assess hygiene or safety, provide medical advice, or claim health effects. It keeps copied venue information separate from your personal impressions.
