Gram counter for muscle gain
One number: the protein you ate today. Plus the Spread Score, the only tracker that grades how you spread protein across the day.
Every other protein app makes you log a full food diary to find out one number. Protyn is that number: the protein you have eaten today, against your goal. Open it, tap +30 g, done. No macro spreadsheets, no calorie guilt, no account.
Protein is the thing people actually track in 2026 — not total calories. So Protyn does one job properly instead of forty jobs badly.
ONE NUMBER, ONE SCREEN
- Your protein for today, in grams, in the middle of the screen. That is the whole home screen.
- A ring that fills as the day goes and turns green the moment you hit your target.
- Your streak of days on target, and nothing else competing for attention.
- Calories are optional. Switch them off and Protyn really is one number.
ADD PROTEIN IN ONE TAP
- Quick-add buttons you choose: +10, +20, +25, +30 g. One tap, logged, gone.
- A searchable database of 170+ foods that already know their protein, from chicken breast and Greek yogurt to whey powder, skyr, quark, tempeh and protein bars.
- Every food ranked by how much protein it actually delivers per serving, not per 100 g of wishful thinking.
- Your own foods: add your whey, your bakery's protein bread, your usual bar. Once. Then it is a tap away.
- Your most-logged foods rise to the top automatically.
THE SPREAD SCORE — NOBODY ELSE MEASURES THIS
Hitting 150 g in one enormous dinner is not the same as 150 g across four solid meals. Muscle protein synthesis is switched on by separate feedings that each clear a leucine threshold — roughly 0.3 g per kg of body weight, about 25-30 g for most people — and it responds best to around four of them, 3-5 hours apart.
Every other tracker scores those two days identically. Your muscles do not.
- Protyn grades each day from 0 to 100 on how well you spread protein out.
- 50 points for how many feedings cleared your personal threshold, 30 for how even they were, 20 for landing the gaps in the 3-5 hour window.
- A timeline of the day's feedings, showing which ones counted and which fell short.
- One concrete tip, not a wall of numbers: eat more often, even out your biggest meal, or close that eight-hour hole.
- Your threshold is calculated from your body weight, so it is your number, not a magazine's.
INSIGHTS THAT ARE ACTUALLY YOURS
- Daily protein trend with your goal line drawn across it.
- A consistency heatmap: every square a day, darker as you approach your goal.
- This week against last week, at a glance.
- Which days of the week you slip — most people fail on Saturday and never notice.
- When in the day your protein actually lands, hour by hour.
- Personal records: best day, best spread, longest streak, days on target.
WORK OUT YOUR GOAL
Not sure how much you need? Enter your weight and pick how you train — sedentary, active, training hard, or building muscle — and Protyn suggests a target from the 0.8 to 2.0 g/kg range the sports-nutrition research actually uses.
