Illumined is a Catholic faith-formation app designed to support OCIA participants, parish instructors, and other adult formation communities. It brings lessons, prayer, class communication, schedules, assignments, and progress tracking together in one accessible place.

LEARN AND GROW

Explore structured lessons covering the major areas of Catholic teaching, including the Profession of Faith, the celebration of the Christian mysteries, life in Christ, and Christian prayer. Participants can move through lesson content, complete quizzes and activities, and monitor their formation progress from the dashboard.

SPIRITUAL FORMATION

Build a consistent prayer life with a collection of common Catholic prayers and guided spiritual practices. Save frequently used prayers to a personal Selected Prayers list for convenient access. Formation resources include:

• Common Catholic prayers • Guided Rosary with visual progress tracking • Guided Lectio Divina • Liturgy of the Hours resources • Prayer requests and other formation activities

CLASS CONNECTION

Each participant joins a class using the class ID provided by an instructor. Class information remains organized within that class, allowing participants to view:

• Announcements from their instructor • Upcoming class dates and events • Assignments and completion status • Class chat messages • Lesson-based discussion boards • Shared links and class resources

The dashboard provides a clear overview of upcoming events, lesson progress, assignments, and recent announcements.

TOOLS FOR INSTRUCTORS

Instructor Tools help parish leaders organize and guide their communities directly from the app. Instructors can:

• Create and manage announcements • Create assignments and monitor completion • Create and moderate discussion boards • Review participant lesson and formation progress • Build or import a class schedule • Schedule multiple events on the same day • Generate instructor invitations • Create and manage multiple classes • Switch between active classes while keeping each class’s content separate • Archive and restore classes as needed

An instructor can lead more than one formation group—such as an OCIA class and a parish ministry class—from a single account.

Illumined supports formation both during class and throughout the week. Participants can revisit lessons, prepare for upcoming sessions, engage in prayer, follow shared resources, and remain connected with their class community.
