Snap meals. Steps included.
The monthly price is now lower — the same app, less each month. The 3-day free trial is unchanged.
Distance now sits under your step count, kept separate by activity.
Ekilo is a calorie and nutrition log you use by taking a photo of your meal.
Less counting, so it is easier to keep going.
■ Just snap it
Photograph a meal and it estimates the calories and the balance of nutrients. No photo? Write the items in plain words instead. The numbers are estimates. Rather than getting one meal exactly right, this app is built to help you see roughly where you are, every day.
■ What you ate, next to how much you moved
Steps, active energy and exercise minutes are read from Apple Health and shown on the same screen. Open "Details" and walking, running and cycling are split into three tracks, each with its own distance and calories. You can look back at earlier days. Works with iPhone alone, or together with Apple Watch.
■ Not to eat less. To know where you are.
Exercise burns fewer calories than most people expect. But cutting food back sharply carries its own risk. What is actually needed is not eating less, but knowing how much you eat and how much you move. That is what this app focuses on.
Your score comes from how far a meal sits from a balanced plate. It does not go up because you ate less, or because you exercised more.
■ Your target
A daily calorie estimate from your height, weight and age. The sources behind the BMI and calorie-target calculations are linked from inside the app, including Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Dietary Reference Intakes and U.S. CDC pages.
■ Something to keep you going
A rabbit grows with the number of days you keep recording. There are seven stages. At the last one it grows arms and legs, and stars appear around it. It has nothing to do with your weight or how much you ate — only with showing up.
■ Through the day
A greeting in the morning, today's summary after midday. One thing at a time, rather than everything at once.
■ Looking back
Daily, weekly and monthly graphs show how your intake has moved. A weekly summary is included.

■ About your health data
Health data deserves care. Apple Health data is read only — never written, and it never leaves your device. Only when a meal is analysed is the photo sent to Google's Gemini.
