Scan a page, get a quote daily
Stop trying to remember the lines you loved. Snap the page — one quote returns daily, as a notification and on your Home Screen. First 20 cards free. Pay once, no ads.
How much do you actually remember from the books you read?
That one line that stopped you mid-page is gone a few days later. Yomikaeshi keeps it — you photograph it once, and it comes back to you, one card a day.
■ All you do is take a photo
- Photograph the page with the line that struck you
- The text is recognized on your device and saved as a quote card
- Every day, at a time you choose, one of your cards arrives as a notification
Nothing to copy out by hand. Nothing to type. Vertical Japanese text is supported too. The recognized text is fully editable, so when the reading isn't quite right, you just retype it there and then.
■ Made for the books on your shelf
E-book highlights sync themselves. Paper books don't. Yomikaeshi is for the ones you underlined, dog-eared, and never opened again.
■ You don't have to keep it up
Reading notes don't fail because writing them is hard. They fail because nobody ever reopens them. Yomikaeshi comes to you instead.
- Daily notification: one card from your collection, at whatever time fits your day — before the morning commute, or right before bed
- Home Screen widget: today's card sits on your Home Screen, so it catches your eye without opening the app
- The widget changes every day even if you never allow notifications
■ What's inside
- Tap "Capture Page" and the camera opens straight away
- Close the camera and you can use a photo or screenshot you already have
- Edit the recognized text, add a short note and the book title
- Filter your cards by book and read them back
- Share a card's text to any other app
- Switch the app between English and Japanese
■ This is not a reading tracker
No page counts. No star ratings. No finished dates. No to-be-read pile. There is nothing here to keep up with — just the lines you cared about, coming back.
■ Pricing
Yomikaeshi is free to download, and free to use for your first 20 cards. To save more than 20, there is one in-app purchase, "Save Unlimited Cards." You pay once. There is no subscription, and there are no ads.
Photographing, the daily notification, and the widget are free before and after that purchase. So is viewing, editing, deleting, and sharing the cards you have already saved. Delete cards to get back under 20, and you can save again without buying.
■ Privacy
There is no server behind this app. Text recognition and card storage happen entirely on your iPhone. Photos are used only to read the text, and are never saved. No account is required.
■ You'll like this if
- You have tried keeping reading notes, and copying passages out by hand killed it
- You hate how fast the books you have read fade
- You want the words, not the statistics
- You would rather pay once than subscribe
Don't let the books you've read fade away.
Meet that line again, with Yomikaeshi.
