Your designs, adapted and cut
The desktop half of faceting finally has a mobile companion. Import your .ASC designs, adapt any design to your material, and cut it index by index at the machine.
A faceter sits down with a folder of downloaded designs, a bag of garnet rough, and a scientific calculator. The design was cut for quartz. To use it in garnet, every tier angle has to be re-worked by hand, one facet at a time, and a single slip windows the stone. That has been mobile faceting for years.
Culet is the mobile companion for that workflow: it carries a faceter's design library, adapts any design to the material in hand, plans the finished size, and runs the cut tier by tier at the bench.
WHAT IT DOES
Import your library. Culet reads .ASC facet design files by file or share sheet and parses them into a native tier table -- gear, angles, indices, ratios, volume factor -- with an honest parse-coverage figure and the original text kept, nothing silently dropped. Twelve built-in generic classic designs ship with the app.
Adapt without arithmetic. Pick a design and a material and Culet reconverts every tier by the guild-standard tangent-ratio method, then grades each pavilion tier against that material's critical angle: safe, marginal, or windowed -- a shallow tier shows in garnet red before any rough is wasted. The adapted design saves as a new copy; the original is never touched.
Know the material first. A cited reference of faceting materials gives the critical angle computed live, recommended pavilion and crown mains, RI, specific gravity, dispersion, and the cleavage, heat, and polish warnings that save stones -- every record cited and dated.
Cut it, index by index. Session Mode turns a design into a runner: pavilion tiers with tappable index checklists, meet-point prompts, lap-stage tracking, a transfer checkpoint, and crown and table. A Live Activity keeps the current tier, angle, and next index in view, so a phone call at the machine loses nothing.
Log every stone. Material, design, dimensions, carats, estimated-vs-actual yield and photos -- a cutting history that becomes its own reference.
FREE FOR EVERYONE
The full materials library and angle calculator, all 12 built-in classic designs with their cutting cards and complete Session Mode, 2 trial imports, and a 3-stone log. A faceter can cut a real stone start to finish before deciding on Pro.
CULET PRO
Unlimited .ASC design imports - each parsed with an honest coverage figure, raw text kept, searchable and cuttable.
Tangent-ratio adapter - convert any design to any material by the guild method, with per-tier safe/marginal/windowed grades against the critical angle. Saves as a new copy; the original is untouched.
Size and yield planner - finished dimensions and labeled carat estimates across two or three materials before you commit the rough.
Cutting-card PDF export - tier table, angles, and index wheel for any design, ready to print for the bench.
Unlimited stone log - photos, dimensions, and estimated-vs-actual yield for every stone (free keeps your 3 most recent).
Home and Lock Screen widgets - active session tier and next index, plus stones this year.
Design comparison - two tier tables and ratio sets side by side.
Stone share cards - a finished-stone card with material, carats, and yield (stone data only, never the diagram).
YOUR DESIGNS STAY YOURS
Culet runs on this device, designed for iPhone. A faceter's designs, stones, and photos live on the phone and ride the normal iPhone backup -- no account, no network. Culet bundles only in-house classics; imported designs stay on the device and are never redistributed or shared as diagrams. Angles and estimates are planning aids -- proof-cut and verify against a design's instructions.
