Bedtime stories in your voice
Record your voice once. Your child hears you at bedtime — over 300 stories, no screen to watch, playing from the device. One-time purchase, no subscription.
Your child listens. There is nothing to watch.
Sleepy Notes turns your own voice into bedtime stories, affirmations and comfort audio for your child. You record once, on your phone. After that, you press play — or your child simply listens while the phone sits face-down on the shelf.
WHY SCREEN-FREE MATTERS AT BEDTIME
Most things that keep a child occupied ask them to look at something. This one doesn't. The parent uses the app; the child only ever hears it. No animation, no autoplay, no bright rectangle in a dark room, nothing for a child to hold. Just a voice they know, in the dark, at the end of the day.
That means it works in the places screens don't. In the car. On a flight. In a room where the lights are already off. At a grandparent's house when you are on a work trip and bedtime is happening without you.
HOW IT WORKS
- Record a short sample of your own voice, once.
- Choose a story and tap generate.
- Press play. Your child hears the story in your voice.
Audio you generate is saved on your device and plays from there, so it keeps working with no signal.
WHAT'S INSIDE
Over 240 stories across six categories. Every story is fixed text that ships with the app — nothing is generated while your child listens.
- Bedtime — gentle wind-down stories, the biggest collection in the app
- Affirmations — short, kind, repeat-after-me stacks
- Classic Tales — original retellings of public domain favourites
- Duet Voices — two parents narrating together, line by line
- Indian Tales — Panchatantra, Jataka and Akbar-Birbal, gently retold
- Festivals — Diwali, Eid, Christmas, Hanukkah, Nowruz and more, told through a family's evening rather than any doctrine
And a seventh category that starts empty: My Stories, where you write your own and hear it back in your voice.
Every story is sorted into three listening stages, so a three-year-old is not handed a seven-year-old's story: Tiny Listener, Little Explorer and Big Dreamer.
BUILT FOR AN ACTUAL BEDTIME
- Routines — line up a few stories in the order you use them every night
- Background music — soft, optional, mixed underneath
- Lock-screen controls, so you can pause without unlocking the phone
- Up to two children, each with their own name, stories and favourites
- Personalisation you control — your child's name in the story, or a generic one, your choice
- Designed for iPad as well as iPhone
TWO PARENTS, ONE STORY
If both parents record, Duet Voices stories alternate between you — one line each, the way a real bedtime goes when you are both home. Each parent gives their own consent and records separately.
PRIVACY
Stories recorded in your voice are stored on your phone only — never on our servers. There are no ads and nothing is sold. We ask for the smallest amount about your child that the app can work with — a name, an age range, a preference — and nothing else. You can delete your voice, a child's profile, or your entire account from inside the app, at any time.
ONE-TIME PURCHASE
No subscription. You buy a pack of story credits once, and that is the end of it. Browse the full library and listen in our narrator's voice before you decide to record your own.
Made by a parent who kept missing bedtime.
