QuellCast: Clean Podcasts

QuellCast is a podcast player for people who want to enjoy their favorite shows without the bad language, especially with kids in the car.

Add any podcast by search. QuellCast downloads each episode and, right on your iPhone, silences profanity during playback. No bleeps — flagged words simply drop out, then the audio continues. You choose the shows; the cleaning is a personal listening preference applied on your own device.

WHY IT WAS CREATED: I built this app for personal use initially. I'm not even someone anti-swearing by nature, but, I do have young children and I simply wanted to listen to my favorite sports, entertainment, and finance podcasts with them in the car without having to expose them to adult language. The problem was, the hosts of those shows wouldn't cooperate with that! After using it successfully for months I decided to make this available to a wider audience and I hope it's a tool that works for you as well as it has worked for me. It's highly accurate, but not perfect: unusual pronunciations, accents, slang, or noisy audio can occasionally slip through, and it may sometimes mute a word it shouldn't. Please don't rely on it as a guarantee that an episode is completely free of language.
