HairAgain is a companion for the hair loss treatment you are already on. It keeps your regimen in order and lines your photos up month after month, so you can see for yourself whether it is working.

THE PROBLEM IS THE PHOTOS Different light one month, a different angle the next. Two years of scalp photos on your phone and you still cannot tell. Photos only mean something when they are taken the same way.

LINE IT UP Open the camera and your last photo is already on screen as a faint ghost. Move until your hairline sits where it sat last month, then shoot. Crown, hairline, left and right temple, plus more angles if you want them, each with its own framing guide. A full set takes about a minute.

START FROM A PHOTO YOU ALREADY HAVE Most people start tracking after the first dose, not before. Import an older photo, pick the date it was taken, and it becomes your before. Your first comparison is ready on day one instead of next year.

COMPARE ANY TWO MONTHS Drag the slider between two sets and whatever changed is right there, in your own photos, each side with its date and the regimen you were on. Save that before and after to your photos, with or without the watermark.

YOUR WHOLE REGIMEN, ONE CHECK-IN Finasteride, minoxidil (topical or oral), dutasteride, ketoconazole shampoo, microneedling, a laser cap, supplements, or anything you add yourself. Daily, twice a day, every other day or fixed weekdays, whatever your real schedule is. Check the day off in a few taps.

REMINDERS A quiet nudge at the times you choose, for whatever is due then. Miss a day and the record just says so. There is no streak to break and nothing turns red. When a photo set comes due, the Today screen says so the next time you open the app.

LOG YOUR SHEDDING If you want to, log how much you shed each day and see your own levels over the last two weeks. For topical minoxidil, the American Academy of Dermatology says a temporary increase in hair loss can happen in the first two to eight weeks.

WHERE THE INFORMATION COMES FROM The app links its treatment and health information to named publishers, MedlinePlus and the American Academy of Dermatology among them. Tap through and check it yourself.

COMMON QUESTIONS Do I need to shave my head? No. Same parting, same angle, that is enough. What if I miss a month? Take the next set when you can. Nothing is lost. Can I show this to my dermatologist? Yes. Save a before and after and bring it to the appointment. Is it only for men? No. The photos and the regimen list work the same either way.

IT IS YOUR RECORD Your photos sit in your own account, not on a feed. Lose the phone and they are still there when you sign in on the next one. They are never sold and never used to train models. Delete your account from inside the app and everything goes with it.
