Kotoba Puzzle is a simple yet deep word game: guess a 4- or 5-character Japanese hiragana word within 6 tries. It works fully offline — no connection, no account, no sign-up. Perfect for a quick brain workout anywhere.

HOW IT WORKS Type any hiragana word of the right length and submit. Each tile is then colored:

• Green: right letter, right position
• Yellow: the letter is in the word, but in a different spot
• Gray: the letter is not in the word

Use these three colors to narrow down the answer within six tries.

WORD OF THE DAY A new word is served every day, derived from the date itself — so players all over the world face the very same puzzle, with no server needed. One daily word each for 4- and 5-character modes. Come back tomorrow for a fresh one.
