Interactive fiction & roleplay
You decide what happens next, and the Storyteller writes the rest. Any genre, your pace, and a tale that remembers your choices. Start one in seconds.
Most AI apps hand you a chatbot. Embertales hands you a story you can walk into.
You open a tale, read the opening scene, and type what you want to do. The Storyteller writes what happens next, then gives the moment back to you. No branching menu, no fixed script. If you can think of it, you can try it, and the story adapts.
HOW A TALE WORKS
Every story opens with a scene written in second person. You are the character. Type an action, a line of dialogue, a plan, or a reckless idea, and the Storyteller narrates where it leads. Change your mind, take a risk, wander off the obvious path. The tale keeps up.
Out of ideas, or happy to watch for a beat? Tap a suggested reply, or tap Continue and the Storyteller moves the scene along, then hands it back.
VOICE MODE
Tap the orb and put the phone down. Say what you want to do, and the Storyteller answers out loud in a real voice. Your turn sends itself when you stop talking, so you never touch the screen. Captions run under the orb if you would rather read along.
PLAY AS YOUR OWN CHARACTERS
Give a character a name and enough history for the Storyteller to know who they are. Choose one before a tale starts, or play with only a name. If the story shifts to someone else, switch characters without restarting. Earlier scenes stay put. From your next message on, the Storyteller treats the new character as you.
DECISION MOMENTS
At a dramatic turn, the Storyteller sometimes holds the scene and offers two ways forward: a steady move and a gamble. Take the gamble and fate rolls quietly behind the curtain. You never see dice or numbers, only what happens next, and a bad gamble leaves a mark the story remembers. Prefer your own idea? Write it instead; bold moves get the same fair odds.
BROWSE A LIBRARY OF STORIES
Pick from a growing catalog across twelve genres, including fantasy, horror, romance, and mystery. Filter by genre, sort by popular or newest, and search for the mood you are in. Like a story to keep it on your reading list, and resume an unfinished tale right where you left it.
WRITE YOUR OWN
Got an idea? Write the premise and the opening scene, or let the app draft the opening for you. Give it a cover by uploading art or describing the scene and generating one. Keep a story private, or share it to the catalog under your username so other players can begin their own tale in your world. Everything you publish gathers on your profile.
TUNE HOW IT'S TOLD
You decide how the Storyteller narrates:
• Length, from a quick beat to long, chapter-length passages
• Stakes, from cozy where setbacks sting to deadly where wounds linger and death is final
• Pacing, from a slow burn to a plot that never sits still
• Decision moments, from rare to often, or off entirely
• Storyteller: Hearth by OpenAI, Moonfire by Kimi from Moonshot AI, or Terrene by Claude from Anthropic, then a level from Spark to Supernova that means the same thing whichever you pick
• Reading voice and speed, for Voice Mode and for any reply you ask to hear
IT REMEMBERS
The Storyteller keeps story notes as you play, so it holds on to your people, your choices, and the threads you left hanging. Open the notes any time to read the story so far, add your own, or check who you are playing. Come back a day later and the scene has not moved without you.
