ReceiTracker: Receipt Budget

Your currency, not just yen — dollars, euros, pounds, won and more. Receipts you snap abroad stay in the currency you paid in. A yearly plan is now available.

A budget app you use by taking a photo of your receipt.

No bank accounts. No credit cards. Your records stay on this device. There are no ads, and nothing about you is tracked.

■ No receipt? Still no problem

Budgeting apps fail for one reason: you forget the receipt, you lose it, or you never type it in. There are four ways in.

• Snap it — AI reads the store, items, amounts and date, then files them into categories such as groceries, dining out or household goods
• Say it — "about $10 for lunch out, $6.80 for a convenience store dinner" becomes two receipts
• Write it — jot down what you remember in plain sentences
• Type it — pick the store, amount and category yourself

Not sure of the amount? "About $10" is fine. It is marked as an estimate, still counted, and you can correct it later. Don't remember the store? Leave it as "unknown store."

■ Only the days you show up count

Log once a day and that day is done, however many receipts you added or however much you spent. Your level rises with the number of days you recorded, never with the amount you spent.

Missed days can be filled in later, and points never go down, so a day off never sends you back to the start. Didn't buy anything? Tap "I didn't shop yesterday" and it counts as a zero-spend day.

■ Your currency

Dollars, euros, pounds, yen, won and more. The currency is stored with each receipt, so changing the setting later never rewrites what you already recorded.

Totals are never added across different currencies. Each is counted on its own. Switch for the length of a trip, then switch back.

■ Totals and charts you can read

Totals by day, week, month and year, with a pie chart by category. Tap a category for the detail. The calendar shows which days you spent on, and how much, by colour.

■ For expenses and receipts you keep

Flag something as a business expense and export it separately. Export to CSV and open it in any spreadsheet. *No bookkeeping entries, no tax calculations. It collects, sorts and exports.

■ Keep the original too

Scanned receipt photos stay on your device and can be viewed from your history anytime. They are never sent to iCloud, and can be tidied up automatically after 3 months or a year.

■ A quiet nudge before bed

If you haven't logged anything, a reminder near the end of the day says so. It can be switched off. Tap it and you are in the logging screen.

■ Three languages

Japanese, English and Chinese. Japanese receipts can show English or Chinese item names — useful if you live in Japan, or while travelling.

■ No ads, no tracking

No advertising anywhere. Nothing about your behaviour is collected or passed to anyone.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at purchase confirmation. The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited if you purchase during the trial.

*While subscribed, scanning runs through our server, up to 12 a day and 150 a month, and receipt images are sent to Google's Gemini for that. While subscribed, registering your own free Gemini API key removes that limit. On-device OCR is also available with no network use, though what it can read is limited.
