Features & Capabilities

Spot the Cue helps you get better at reading people — tone, facial expressions, body language, and the things left unsaid — through short, friendly practice you can do in a few minutes a day.

Most social "rules" are never explained out loud. Spot the Cue turns them into bite-size reads: you see a real moment, choose how you'd read it, and get a clear explanation of why — so the pattern sticks. Cues are rarely black-and-white, so thoughtful reads earn credit too, not just "perfect" ones.

WHO IT'S FOR Anyone who wants to feel steadier in conversations — including autistic people, people who find social situations draining or confusing, anyone navigating a new job, school, or country, and teens building confidence (there's a dedicated Teen mode).

HOW IT WORKS • Quick daily practice that adapts to you — it leans into what you find hardest and brings tricky moments back at the right time. • Realistic photos and video of expressions and body language, plus text scenarios for tone and subtext. • Every answer comes with the "why" — the heart of the app. • Seven skill areas: tone & wording, facial & body cues, subtext & indirectness, group dynamics, conflict & repair, out-loud practice, and pressure & deception.

WHAT'S INSIDE • Reading Eyes & Faces tests — name the feeling from just the eyes, then see the whole face. • Practice out loud — rehearse what you'd actually say, at your own pace (no microphone required). • Learning paths — focused journeys like spotting a soft "no," sarcasm, masked feelings, and reading a room. • Social stories — calm, step-by-step walkthroughs for real situations (airports, appointments, first days). • A searchable glossary of common cues and what they usually mean.

BUILT TO BE KIND Spot the Cue is made for real people, not high scores. Turn scoring off for no-stakes practice, hide XP and streaks if they stress you out, and switch on Calm feedback so nothing ever feels like a red "wrong." Every image and video has a written description, and the app works with VoiceOver and Dynamic Type.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN Everything runs on your device. No account, no sign-up, no tracking — nothing leaves your phone, and it works fully offline.

FREE TO START Level 1 of every skill — plus the Reading Eyes & Faces test — is free, forever. One simple purchase unlocks everything else (Levels 2–6, all out-loud practice, learning paths, and stories) for good. No subscription.

Spot the Cue isn't about scripts or "fixing" anyone. It's practice — patient, private, and at your pace — for reading the room a little more easily.

User Reviews

Love this app! It’s easy to use, organized, and incredibly helpful. The information is practical and makes it much easier to identify people’s nonverbal cues. It’s a great way to learn how to follow what others are saying without using words. You can tell a lot of thought went into its design. I highly recommend Spot the Cue to anyone looking for a high-quality, user-friendly app for people who have difficulty reading body language.
