Exposure Aperture Photography
Turn your camera into a film light meter: EV, shutter/aperture pairs, the Zone System, reciprocity and incident metering. On-device, no account.
Filmeter turns your iPhone into a light meter made for film photography. Point the
camera at your scene and get the exposure value (EV) and a full ladder of shutter and
aperture pairs at your chosen ISO — the analog metering workflow, in your pocket.
— THREE WAYS TO METER —
• Reflected — read the light bouncing off your subject (free).
• Incident (beta) — point toward the light for a falling-light reading.
• Sunny-16 — no camera needed; pick the light by condition and go (free).
— THE ANALOG TOOLKIT —
• The Zone System — spot-meter tones onto zones 0–X and read your scene's contrast.
• Reciprocity — correct long exposures per film with the Schwarzschild law.
• Filter & bellows — add the stops for ND/polarizer filters and macro extension.
• Film profiles — save your stocks (ISO + reciprocity) and meter with them.
• Calibration — tune the meter once to your own device for accuracy you can trust.
— LOG YOUR ROLLS —
Log every frame — EV, aperture, shutter, mode — into named rolls, and export any roll
to CSV for your notes.
— PRIVATE BY DESIGN —
Filmeter reads only the camera's live exposure — it never captures or stores a photo.
No account, no cloud, no analytics, no third-party SDKs. Everything stays on your
device. The app's only network use is Apple's App Store for your purchase.
— FREE, WITH PRO WHEN YOU WANT IT —
Reflected and Sunny-16 metering, EV and exposure pairs, calibration, one film profile,
and the roll logbook are free. Filmeter Pro adds incident metering, the Zone System,
reciprocity, filter & bellows, CSV export, and unlimited film profiles — via a Monthly
or Yearly subscription (3-day free trial) or a one-time Lifetime purchase.
Filmeter Pro is an auto-renewing subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at
purchase confirmation. It renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least
24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged within 24 hours
before renewal. Manage or cancel any time in your App Store account settings. Lifetime
is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
— NOTE —
Filmeter is an estimate, not a laboratory instrument. Readings depend on your device's
camera and calibration — always cross-check important exposures against a trusted meter.
