Features & Capabilities

Turn two devices you already own into a private home call-bell. A tap calls for help, your phone alarms instantly, and you're warned the moment the link drops.

Bedside Care turns two devices you already own — two iPhones, or an iPhone and an iPad — into a private, reliable call-bell for looking after someone at home, with no internet, no monthly fees, and no accounts.

The person you're caring for taps one large "Call for help" button on the bedside screen. Your iPhone alarms instantly with sound and vibration, wherever you are in the house, until you acknowledge the call.

HOW IT WORKS Set one device as the bedside screen and one or more iPhones as caregivers. The bedside screen shows a single, full-screen button — nothing to read, nothing to choose, just one tap for help.

When it's tapped, every caregiver phone sounds an alarm and vibrates until someone acknowledges it. The person at the bedside sees every step — "Calling…" the moment they tap, "Sent" once a phone has the call, and "[Name] is coming" once a caregiver responds — so they always know help is on the way.

Tapped by mistake? A large "False alarm" button stays on screen, so a mis-tap is undone in one touch and the alarm stops.

OPTIONAL REQUEST CATEGORIES Off by default. When you want a little more detail, the bedside screen can show small optional tags — painkiller, toilet, food, drink — so a call arrives as "Help needed — Painkiller." They only add a hint; simply tapping for help always works.

BUILT TO BE RELIABLE For a call-bell, silence is the most dangerous failure. If the connection between devices ever drops, Bedside Care actively alarms instead of going quiet, and if a call is not delivered the bedside screen warns you rather than showing a false "Sent."

PRIVATE BY DESIGN Everything happens over your own home Wi-Fi. No internet, no cloud, no sign-up — no data ever leaves your devices. Nothing to subscribe to, nothing to track.

FOR ONE OR TWO CAREGIVERS Carrying two iPhones between you? Both receive every alarm, so whoever is closest can respond — and one acknowledgement clears the call on both phones.

ON YOUR WRIST (APPLE WATCH) Pair an Apple Watch with a caregiver's iPhone and calls come straight to your wrist: a buzz and a "Help needed" alert with a single Acknowledge button — answer without reaching for your phone, even when it's charging in another room. (The watch works through its paired iPhone, which stays connected over your home Wi-Fi.)

A SIMPLE RECORD Every call and response is timestamped on your device, giving you a simple history you can look back on or share with a visiting nurse.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • A bedside device — an iPad or an iPhone — kept on charge within the person's reach
  • One or two iPhones to carry as caregivers (iPhones, so a call vibrates as well as sounds)
  • A home Wi-Fi network

GETTING RELIABLE ALERTS Alerts sound and vibrate even with the ring/silent switch off, and come through during Focus and Do Not Disturb. The caregiver app keeps working while the iPhone is locked or in a pocket: calls reach your iPhone — and your Apple Watch — and keep re-alerting until someone acknowledges, and you're warned if the link ever drops. Staying connected uses some battery, so keep the phone on its charger overnight; with the app open on screen you also get the loudest, continuously repeating alarm. Allow the "Local Network" permission when prompted, keep everything on the same Wi-Fi, and always keep a simple physical backup, such as a bell, within reach.

Bedside Care was made for families caring for a loved one at home. It is deliberately simple: one clear button, honest feedback, loud alerts, and nothing in the way.

Note: Bedside Care is a convenience tool for communication between members of a household. It is not a medical device and is not a substitute for professional medical care, monitoring, or emergency services. Keep a physical backup, such as a bell within reach, in place as well. In an emergency, always call your local emergency number.
