Star Archive is a companion for visual (eyepiece) astronomy — for stargazers who observe the sky with a telescope or binoculars, by eye.

Plan a session, look up what you can see tonight, read a visual observation guide for each object, and keep a logbook of what you saw.

WHAT IT DOES • Plan tonight — see which objects are up, grouped by time or constellation, with rise, transit, and set times, altitude, and the Moon's phase. • 15,000+ objects — deep-sky objects, double and variable stars, and object groups (galaxy clusters, Hickson groups, asterisms), each with a visual observing guide. • Observation log — record conditions (seeing, transparency, limiting magnitude), equipment, difficulty, and your impressions. Group logs into sessions. • Sketches — attach your own sketches to an object and organize them into albums. • Solar system — planets, dwarf planets and asteroids in real time, plus Jupiter's moon events. • Live star chart — a real-time chart of your planned objects during a session. • Star-hopping help — copy an object's name or open SkySafari / Stellarium. • Observing lists — build your own, or load presets (Messier, Herschel 400, Hickson, seasonal double stars, and more). • Themes — a light "paper" theme, dark, and a red night-vision mode.

NO ACCOUNT, NO SERVER Everything is stored on your device. Location (optional) is used only to compute rise/set and altitude for your position.
