PRIVATE, ON-DEVICE BIRD IDENTIFICATION

BirdTrace uses an advanced on-device recognition model covering 10,480 bird classes.

Bird identification is performed locally on your device. Your bird photos do not need to be uploaded to a remote AI service for recognition.

This also means bird identification can continue to work when you are offline — useful when birding in forests, wetlands, mountains, reserves, and other places with poor network coverage.

LOCATION-AWARE IDENTIFICATION

Birds are not equally likely to occur everywhere.

With location permission, BirdTrace can combine visual recognition with geographic context to prioritize species that are more relevant to where the photo was taken.

This helps make identification results more useful in real-world birding situations without moving the recognition model to the cloud.

Migration data can be downloaded by species and stored locally for later reuse.

The atlas represents modeled population distributions rather than individual GPS tracking routes.
