From videos, websites & photos
More free recipe saves
New accounts start with 10 social imports. After that, the Free plan refills to 5 every Monday. Save from TikTok, Instagram, RedNote, Baidu, and more. Recipe websites, screenshots, and cookbook photos remain unlimited; failed imports and recipes you review without saving never count.
Your recipes are scattered across saved videos, screenshots, browser tabs, and cards in a drawer. Shio keeps them together and ready to cook, with the ingredients, steps, and grocery list already organized. Even when the original recipe is in another language.
Save from almost anywhere
- Import recipes from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, Substack, RedNote (Xiaohongshu), Lemon8, Baidu, and Cookpad.
- Paste a link from Safari, Chrome, or a recipe website. Shio pulls out the recipe, minus the backstory and the ads.
- Share a recipe directly to Shio from another app.
- Photograph a handwritten recipe card or cookbook page, or choose a few screenshots. Shio reads the recipe for you.
Recipes across languages
- Translate ingredients, amounts, and steps into English, Spanish, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, or Traditional Chinese.
- Cook from recipes written in most major languages.
- Use Shio itself in English, Spanish, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, or Traditional Chinese.
Cook without scrolling in circles
- Follow one step at a time in large type.
- See each step's ingredients directly underneath it, so you do not have to scroll back up with wet hands.
- Tap a time such as “3 to 5 minutes” to start a timer, and run more than one at once.
- Keep the screen awake while you cook.
- Change the serving size or switch between US and metric measurements.
Grocery lists that remember the recipe
- Add recipes and Shio builds a grocery list sorted by aisle, combining amounts across recipes.
- See which recipe each item belongs to, including a per-recipe breakdown for combined ingredients.
- Check items off without making them jump to the bottom of the list. They stay put, clearly crossed out.
Find and organize what you saved
- Search ingredients, steps, and notes, not only recipe titles. “The soup with the fried garlic” is enough.
- Group recipes into collections, add tags and notes, and edit the title, ingredients, steps, or photo.
- Mark recipes as cooked and remember what you made.
- Keep recipes available offline and synced across your devices.
- Share a recipe with a link. The other person does not need Shio.
Plan the week
- Add breakfast, lunch, and dinner to a weekly meal plan.
- Turn the plan into one combined grocery list.
- See estimated calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat per serving with Pro.
Free and Pro
The Free plan includes 5 saved social recipes each week after the 10-import starter allowance. Website and photo imports do not use this allowance. Pro removes the weekly social-import limit and adds nutrition estimates, the cooking assistant, recipe export, and unlimited dietary adaptations.
Shio Pro is available as a monthly or annual subscription that renews automatically. Prices are shown before you confirm. Cancel in Settings at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Food-rule note: Shio can help adapt recipes and flag likely conflicts. It does not certify recipes for allergies or medical diets. Always verify ingredients, labels, and cross-contact risk when relevant.
