Your Personal Riyaz Companion

Sangatkaar is a practice companion for Hindustani classical music: tanpura, shruti box, tabla and swarmandal, tuned and played together. Every instrument is built from real recordings, not synthesis. Nothing makes a sound until you ask it to.

MICRO TUNING Tune every note to your own ear — up to fifty cents, to a tenth of a cent. The tuning is held per note, so retuning one Ga retunes every Ga: drone, strum and shruti box together. Sa and Pa stay locked, because everything else is tuned against them. Each rail carries that note's two classical shruti positions as snap points.

TANPURA Two independent tanpuras, each with its own strings, pan, tone and level. Set your Sa and fine-tune in cents. Choose each string freely — Sa, Pa, Ma or Ni on String 1, any interval on String 2. Dual Octave for a fuller bed. Fine Adjust opens a drawn tanpura neck with per-string volume, tuning and javari.

SHRUTI BOX Four reeds from real recordings — Sa, two of your choosing, and a coupler an octave below — each with its own level and pan, and its own channel in the mixer. It follows your Sa and your Micro Tuning, so it can never disagree with the drone.

TABLA 26 taals in 33 selectable patterns, played from real strokes. Variations per taal, or Auto Variation that moves on its own. Tap Tempo, or step it by 1 or 5, with each taal keeping its own workable range. Sur Tabla drops the chati a register. Theka for the bare cycle, Sangat for variations. Manjira on the taals that carry it. Count yourself in, or start the cycle from any matra. A real metronome, with any time signature from 1 to 23 beats. A riyaz timer you start and stop yourself.

SWARMANDAL A 24-cell sequencer in two independent sequences. Play a full pass, or Pluck to sound cells under your finger. Re-trigger every 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds while you sing. Shuffle between the two sequences, or hold one. Randomise the speed, or skip empty cells for an even line. Swipe to Play for a surreal experience.

PRESETS Nineteen raag setups, ready to load. A preset carries the strings, the octave, the shruti box, both sequences and the tuning — and deliberately leaves taal, tempo, Sa and the mix alone, because those belong to you and your room. Save your own, mark favourites, and share a preset as a file that opens on iPhone and Android alike.
