Dictation runs entirely on your iPhone using Apple's built-in on-device speech recognition. No external APIs, no accounts, and no servers of ours are involved. Your audio is never recorded or stored, and it never leaves your device.

The transcribed text stays on your device. Keep it in DICTA's history, copy it, or export it as a text file wherever you choose.

A note on languages: if your device doesn't have Apple's on-device model for a particular language installed, DICTA falls back to Apple's speech recognition service to transcribe that language. In that case the audio is processed by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, and DICTA clearly shows an "Apple Cloud" badge so you always know which mode is active.
