Contemplative Christian prayer
Long before the monasteries, the early Christians paused to pray at fixed hours — dawn, midday, evening, and night. The monks kept that rhythm alive for sixteen centuries, letting bells draw them out of their work and back to God. Now Still brings that same ancient rhythm into your pocket.
When the hour comes, a gentle monastery bell sounds. You stop. You pray. Then you return to your life, carried a little more gently than before.
Still is a contemplative Christian prayer app built on seventeen centuries of practice — the Desert Fathers, the monastics, the mystics — with none of the gamification. No streaks to break. No badges to earn. No guilt when you miss a day. Just a quiet place to be with God.
Built by a former Trappist monastic discerner (now a husband and father of five), Still is the app he wanted and couldn't find: one that treats prayer as a relationship, not a habit to optimize.
WHAT'S INSIDE
The Liturgy of the Hours — Pray the rhythm the Church has kept for centuries. Wake to Lauds, rest at Vespers, end the day with Compline, with psalms, readings, and collects that change with the liturgical season. Hear them spoken aloud, or pray them in silence. Monastery bells call you to prayer through the day.
Contemplative Sitting — Silent prayer in the desert tradition. Thoughts will come; that is not failure. The returning is the prayer.
Spiritual Paths — Guided journeys through the tradition — beginning with a 14-day Ignatian discernment of a decision.
The Examen — The Ignatian practice of reviewing your day with God, gently and honestly.
Lectio Divina — Sacred reading of Scripture, the ancient four-movement practice of letting a word find you.
The Three Voices — Companion, Amma Sophia, and Deeper: contemplative guides drawn from the wisdom of the tradition, who come to know your journey over time.
Reading Toward the Center — Twenty-six days through Revelation's mirror, pair by pair, to the room where the accuser has already lost. Ends each day in silence.
The Guide — Ven. Louis of Granada's five movements: the seven roots, their remedy, and a journal that builds over time.
A Rule of Life — Shape your own quiet rule, the way monastics have for 1,500 years.
Your Spiritual Autobiography — Your practice, gathered over time. Days of prayer appear as light.
The Dialogue Chamber — A dialogue in the school of Catherine of Siena and Catherine of Genoa. The tradition answers, never pretends to be God. Three exchanges, then silence.
Darkness Mode — For when you're not ok. Lamentations. The dark Psalms. John of the Cross. Thérèse of Lisieux.
Resources — Books, retreats, parish promotion.
WHO IT'S FOR
For the seeker who finds most "spiritual" apps hollow. For the Christian who wants depth, not dopamine. For anyone drawn to the stillness the saints knew — and tired of being optimized.
"Be still, and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10
