WHY ON-DEVICE MATTERS Your photos are never uploaded, never previewed to a server, and no account is required. The scan uses Apple's Vision framework right on your iPhone. We don't see your photos and neither does anyone else. Turn off analytics in Settings and the app stops all usage and crash reporting.

QUESTIONS If a photo went to Hidden, open Photos, go to Albums, find the Hidden section, and use Unhide. If you sent something to Recently Deleted, you have 30 days to restore it inside Photos. Gallery Cleaner doesn't touch deleted photos after that.

UNDER THE HOOD The detection uses Apple's Vision framework. Each photo gets a small perceptual fingerprint that captures composition, color, and structure. Two photos with identical fingerprints are exact duplicates; photos with very close fingerprints are near-duplicates (different exposure, slight angle change). The fingerprints are computed and compared entirely on your iPhone.
