Sound Level is a big, accessible sound-level (decibel) meter that runs entirely on your phone. The microphone is analyzed locally to show a giant, easy-to-read dB number with color-coded hearing-safety zones. Nothing is ever recorded, saved, or uploaded. There is no account, no tracking, and no internet required — turn on airplane mode and watch it keep working.

That is the whole point: the mic measures the loudness around you, but your audio never leaves the device.

Loud spaces add up. Sound Level shows NIOSH-style color zones at a glance: • Safe — quiet and comfortable. • Caution — limit how long you stay. • Danger — loud enough to harm your ears over time; protect them. It is a clear, everyday signal to step back, turn it down, or put in earplugs.

1. Giant live dB readout A 160 pt number you can read across the room, with a smoothed value that doesn't jump frame to frame.

2. Color-coded hearing-safety zones A safe / caution / danger chip tells you when to protect your ears.

3. Session min, average and max The whole session at a glance. Tap Reset to start a new one.

4. Built-in calibration Nudge the offset to match a known level; it is saved for next time.

• Every button is at least 64 × 64 pt — easy to hit. • High-contrast, AMOLED-friendly black background that sips battery. • Minimum 24 pt text everywhere; the dB number is huge. • No double-taps, no swipes, no hidden gestures — just tap.

● Honest about what it is

Sound Level measures relative sound level. Phone microphones vary, so for true SPL it should be calibrated against a known reference — that is what the built-in calibration is for. It is great for everyday awareness of how loud a place is; it is not a medical-grade or laboratory instrument, and it is not a substitute for professional dosimetry.
