Cozy May I? Family Card Game
New — House Rules: play Progressive Rummy your family's way. Tune the scores and buys, pick a table style, deal on one of nine felts. Pull up a chair, dear.
Progressive Gin is a calm, beautifully crafted take on Progressive Rummy — the rising-contract card game families have played around the kitchen table for generations. You might know it as May I?, Shanghai, Liverpool, Kalooki, or contract rummy. No ads. No in-app purchases. No coins, no tracking, no internet required. Just a quiet card room and a good game.
HOW IT PLAYS
Across seven rounds the goal grows: two groups of three… a group and a run… all the way to three runs of four. Each round you draw, build your melds, lay them down, and race to shed every card. Lowest score after seven rounds wins.
BUY THE PILE
When another player is about to draw, jump in and buy the top discard — it comes with two hidden cards off the deck. A gamble that can complete your hand or fill it with deadwood.
YOUR HOUSE, YOUR RULES (New)
Every family plays a little differently, so now you can too. Pick a table to start — The Aunties' House, High Roller, Easy Chair, or Sharp Table — then tune it to taste: how much jokers and aces sting when you're caught with them, and how many times you can buy the pile each round. Your table, your rules. The title screen always shows which one you're playing.
A TABLE WITH CHARACTER
Rose deals you in, and the card-room regulars — Frank, June, Artie, Pearl, Walt, and Hazel — sit across from you in person: six hand-drawn characters who blink, think over their cards, and look quietly proud when they go down. Tell Rose your name and the whole table greets you by it. They play a smart, honest game. No "rigged" computer, no pay-to-win.
MAKE IT YOURS
- Nine table felts, from the lamplit Card Room to a warm Sunset porch — plus Amethyst, Slate, Evergreen, and more
- Card backs to choose from: lattice, grid, dots, pinstripe, or a clean plain
- Optional touches: a woven felt texture, and a "match the time of day" light that warms at dusk and cools at dawn
MADE WITH CARE
- Hand-drawn cards and characters, easy to read at a glance
- Undo a slipped finger — take back your last move until another player acts
- Your table record: wins, streaks, and personal bests, kept on your device
- Play at your pace: relaxed, normal, or snappy — and save mid-game, resume anytime
- Smooth, tasteful animation (and full Reduce Motion support)
- VoiceOver labels on every card and control, Dynamic Type, and high contrast
- Suits alternate colors in your hand and never rely on color alone
- Plays great on iPhone and iPad
WHY IT'S DIFFERENT
Most free card games bury a simple game under pop-ups, timers, and coin shops. Progressive Gin is the opposite: pay once, play forever, offline, with nothing trying to grab your attention or your data. Honest, polished, and built to be passed around the family.
