ABOUT THE EU DRONE REGULATION

Since 2021, EU Regulation 2019/947 applies across Europe. Anyone flying a drone weighing 250g or more needs a competency certificate. The EU drone license is valid for 5 years in all 27 EU states plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland.

A1/A3 is the basic license for drones under 250g (A1) and larger drones at a distance from people (A3).

A2 is required for drones between 500g and 2kg near people (minimum 30m distance, 5m in low-speed mode).
