PEDAL QUEST is a cycling app that joins outdoor GPS rides, indoor recreations of the roads you rode, ghost races against your past self and other riders, training and time with friends into one place.

"Nothing should stand between you and the ride." Expensive dedicated hardware and complicated setup are not conditions for starting. One smartphone is enough to ride today.

■ Ride outdoors GPS records distance, time, elevation and climbs. The road you rode becomes a course you can ride again indoors.

■ Ride with friends On a group ride you share your location with the others, and you can stop sharing at any time. Impact detection using the phone's accelerometer is supported, so a hard impact is easier for your friends to notice and check.

■ Ride indoors Connects directly over Bluetooth to smart trainers, power meters, heart rate monitors and cadence sensors. Ride the routes you recorded outdoors, the climbs you collected, 3D courses or a workout.

■ Race ghosts Call up your past self on the same course, or a published ride, and race it as a ghost. You do not have to be online at the same time - the record that was left behind is your opponent.

■ Keep your rides as a story Distance, time, power, climbs, races, quests completed. What each ride leaves behind stacks up. PEDALFOLIO, your digital calling card, puts your rider profile, rider card and published ghosts on a single URL you can share.

■ Speed is not the only right answer Recording something for the first time. Riding further than usual. Taking on a climb. Reaching a destination with friends. Achievement takes many shapes, and you find your next quest at your own pace.

■ Apple Watch Measure heart rate and read your live numbers from your wrist as a cycling computer.

■ Apple Health Sleep and heart rate are read from Health and shown as your condition. Indoor rides measured on Apple Watch are recorded to Health as workouts. You can change permission at any time, and rides and records work without it.
